Music Appreciation - Beautiful Music
Beautiful music is a big part of our homeschool. I want my children to have both knowledge of and appreciation for classical music and the musical masters of history. I've found the best way for my children to have appreciation for beautiful music is by frequently listening to beautiful music. All my children also take music lessons from wonderful teachers who have a deep appreciation for classical music.
We listen to classical music most mornings. I have an unofficial "rule" that we don't listen to music with words (not including hymns) in the morning. To me, this helps keep our mornings calm and intentional. I am beginning to compile a playlist (Music for the Heart) with beautiful music that I want my children to know. This is our go to listen in the morning and often I highlight a piece on the playlist or find a story about it when we gather for family studies.
The book Symphony Stories from Libraries of Hope has an accompanying playlist on Spotify
Stories that go along with the above playlist: (this is a working list)
